Losing hair can feel like an impending doom for your locks, an undeniable sign of the passing of youthfulness. However, there are things you can do to combat hair loss! At Seacoast Rejuvenation Center, we empathize with the discouragement you may feel from hair loss. As such, we are delighted to offer excellent hair restoration treatments for you at our clinic!
What is the best treatment to regrow hair?
There is a wide variety of treatments to regrow hair, ranging from hair transplants or medications such as minoxidil or finasteride, known commercially as Rogaine or Propecia, to low-level laser therapy (LLLT) or platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy! While all of these procedures have pros and cons, we highly vouch for low-level laser therapy or platelet-rich plasma therapy at Seacoast Rejuvenation Center for its long-lasting effectiveness and affordable prices.
Low-level laser therapy, which is also referred to as red laser therapy or cold laser therapy, works by stimulating increased blood flow to the scalp, resulting in more hair follicles. A patient undergoing low-level laser therapy for hair loss will wear a laser cap that emits the lasers to the scalp. The red-light laser energy treats the base of your hair follicles, also known as the mitochondria, to revive the entire structure. Once the mitochondria are repaired and restored, it can begin to repair existing follicles and stimulate the growth of new follicles.
As for platelet-rich plasma therapy, it also works through the increased blood supply to the hair follicles to heal the damaged follicles. Platelet-rich plasma is part of your blood. Platelet-rich plasma is made from blood drawn from the patient’s arm and placed in a centrifuge, which separates the red blood cells for the platelets and the plasma. Platelets contain many different growth factors that aid in the healing of any wound in your body, while plasma is the liquid portion of your blood. After the platelets and plasma are separated from the red blood cells, the platelets are activated, and the platelet-rich plasma is injected into the scalp. The activated platelets release various growth factors which help repair damaged follicles and stimulate their growth and reproduction.
Both low-level laser therapy and platelet-rich plasma therapy are safer, less invasive, and less expensive than hair transplant treatments!
Can hair grow back after Balding?
That depends! If a specific hair follicle is merely and remains intact, then yes! Your hair can grow back after balding. However, if the follicle has shriveled up, closed, or disappeared, it would not be possible for hair to grow back. As such, if you are worried about balding, or have begun to experience balding and cannot accept the change, it is best to get on top of the issue as soon as possible before the follicle dies off. That said, with treatments such as low-level laser therapy, it is becoming possible for new follicles to generate. Thus, while a cure for baldness has not yet been found, we are getting close!
Is there a proven way to regrow hair?
Plenty of research supports the efficacy and safety of treatments such as low-level laser therapy and platelet-rich plasma therapy for hair restoration! Results for PRP therapy can usually be seen within two to three months of treatment, while results from LLLT occur over three phases that take six months to one year to come to complete fruition.
