Fractional laser skin resurfacing Fractional laser technology at it's greatest: the gold standard in laser skin tightening now has the ability to use "fractional" technology to minimize downtime and make this a safe and effective alternative to a surgical facelift. Seacoast Rejuvenation Center is proud to be the first facility in New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont to offer this remarkable technology. Total FX is a combination of two separate laser technologies (Active FX and Deep FX) that treat both deep lines, fine lines, and skin dispigmentation (brown spots or sun damage.) Down time is approximately four days, and results at one week are immediately visible and often dramatic. Results continue to improve for six months after the treatment as well. SmoothShapes TM Cellulite affects 90% of women, due to the underlying structure of skin in women, combined with hormonal influences. In women, the strands of connective tissue under the skin are vertically oriented like the poles and ropes holding down a canopy tent. When fat cells in the area become enlarged, they protrude upward between the “ropes”, leaving the surface dimpled in appearance. In men, they are diagonally oriented and therefore contribute to an evenly padded fat layer. Cellulite is very difficult to treat, even with liposuction, and most technologies depend upon tissue coagulation, ablation, and fat destruction to eliminate the fat. These work through tissue destruction, and are often quite painful. However a new technology has been FDA approved that has a new and healthier approach to cellulite. SmoothShapesTM is a new, gentle, and non-destructive technology which relies on a combination of mechanisms to smooth, firm, and tighten the skin. SmoothShapesTM improves the function of the unhealthy fat cells, improves circulation, and stimulates collagen regeneration for smoother skin. SmoothShapesTM works to make your skin healthier from the inside out. A handpiece that provides two unique light sources with vacuum and massage feels as relaxing as a massage, but works beneath the surface as an efficient and high-tech healer, to eradicate cellulite in a healthy way. The first light source is a gentle, low-level laser utilizing 915nm light. This wavelength is absorbed preferentially by fat cells, with no heating of surrounding tissue. It gently heats the fat cell to change the fat from a semi-liquid to a liquid state. The second light, a 650 nm non-laser light, is a wavelength proven to open the fat cell membrane via a transitory “pore” to allow the liquefied fat to be released. The vacuum suction lifts the skin gently to position it for greatest light penetration and improve circulation. The massage rollers allow mobilization of the liquefied fat from the cells. The cells are thus left healthy and intact, minus the extra fat. The liquefied fat, now in the interstitial space, is cleared by the usual mechanisms of the lymphatic and circulatory system, much as an old bruise is cleared. SmoothShapesTM is a treatment program that requires a course of repeated treatments for best results. Eight to ten treatments are recommended, although often early results are typically seen much sooner, by the fourth treatment. Results continue to improve and progress over a period of three to six months as new collagen regenerates and tightens the skin as well.
